How Custom Printed Shipping Boxes Elevate Your Brand

At Brown & Pratt we understand the importance of leaving a lasting impression on your customers. That’s why we offer a unique and powerful solution to showcase your brand with our custom printed shipping boxes. Outside of being the highest quality corrugated boxes, they’re powerful marketing tools that can significantly impact your brand identity and customer experience.

Unleash Your Brand’s Creativity

With custom printed shipping boxes, you have the creative opportunity to design a corrugated shipping package that perfectly represents your brand’s personality and values. Whether it’s a vibrant color scheme, a striking logo, or an eye-catching design, your shipping boxes become an extension of your brand, making a memorable connection with your customers.

Instant Recognition

In a crowded marketplace, brand recognition is key. When your customers receive a package with your distinctive custom box, they’ll immediately know it’s from you! This instant recognition harnesses trust and loyalty, ensuring that your brand stays in-mind even after the purchase.

Enhance the Unboxing Experience

In the digital age, unboxing videos have become a sensation, providing an authentic glimpse into the excitement of receiving a package. A well-designed custom box can turn your unboxing experience into a memorable event worth sharing. A visually appealing box encourages customers to capture and share their unboxing moments online, spreading the word about your brand organically.

The questions you should be asking yourself are these: Is the custom packaging your business uses worthy of an unboxing video? Are you fully leveraging custom printed packaging to extend your business branding? Are custom printed boxes affordable within your company’s budget?

Connect Emotionally

Custom printed shipping boxes have the power to unleash emotions and create a deeper connection with a consumer. By incorporating your brand’s story, values, or a personal touch, you can create a sense of reality that resonates with your audience and sets your brand apart from the competition.

Stand Out!

In a sea of plain brown boxes, a custom printed shipping box is a shining star. Your packaging becomes an opportunity to captivate your audience, spark their curiosity, and differentiate yourself from competitors. Make your brand stand out and create real customer alignment with custom printed shipping boxes.

Reinforce Your Brand Professionalism

A well-designed custom box showcases your commitment to quality and professionalism. It reflects the care and attention to detail that your brand puts into every aspect of its business, reinforcing the positive perception of your company in the eyes of your customers.

At Brown & Pratt, we specialize in creating captivating custom printed shipping boxes that elevate your brand’s image and deliver an exceptional unboxing experience. Our team is dedicated to working closely with you to bring your vision to life, ensuring that your custom box becomes a focal point of your brand’s identity.

Custom Printed Shipping Box Process

We cater to your needs by offering a range of durable styles with printing process options to fit your budgetary needs.  Learn more about custom-printed boxes we offer on our corrugated box page.

Custom Printed Shipping Boxes by Style

  • RSC Shipping Box: The “regular slotted container” (RSC) is the industry standard that comes in a stunning array of sizes and configurations made from corrugated cardboard. We can build any RSC box to your specifications. Visit our How to Measure a Custom Printed Box page for more information. RSC boxes all have those recognizable outer flaps that meet in the center and are typically sealed with tape to keep the box securely closed. Custom printing on RSC boxes puts your brand front and center for your customers when they receive the package. We can also make custom printed tape for an added branding element to the overall custom package design.
  • Tuck Top Mailer Box: Sturdy and stylish, these boxes are easy to open—and are a great way to display your products. These are the boxes that have an extended outer flap with a lip that tucks down inside the box to close it.
  • Deluxe Mailer Box: When you want to really wow your customers, these boxes are the way to go. They have a thicker weight and allow for the use of bold color that makes a big impression. It differs from the tuck top box with its “rollover front tuck” in which the lip, rather than tucking down inside the box, rolls over the front and is secured with tabs that fit into slots on the front. This type of box may also feature dust flaps on each side of the lid that tuck down inside the sides of the box, thus creating a more complete seal around the outer edges of the lid.

Need something different than what’s listed above? We have a large selection of sizes and styles to choose from. Learn more about other types of boxes we offer for custom printing on our Commercial Custom Printed Box Styles page.

Printing Process

Brown & Pratt gives you options for your printing process to accommodate your budget and order size. The traditional options are a choice between flexographic printing and digital printing, driven largely by the quantity needed.

  • Industrial Run Flexographic Printing: This is the most cost-effective method for custom printed boxes. Flexographic printing utilizes crisp, water-based inks and allows for either one-color or two-color design—perfect for a logo and text. It produces a clean, matte image on each box. The printing happens as the box itself is being made (manufactured in-line). Depending on the print, carton size, and style, these boxes sometimes require a cutting die. Taking machine setup into consideration allows us to create pricing breaks for larger quantities. This kind of offer typically starts at 500 pieces and continues for orders of 750, 1000, 1250, and so on.
  • Digital Post-Printing: If you only need a small quantity, then digital printing might be the best choice for you. A post-printed box means your boxes are built and inked one at a time. There are lower upfront costs, and it allows for individual printing on hand-crafted cartons. While small production runs lead to a higher per-piece price, you also avoid bigger upfront costs. Depending on your budget and needs, this can be a great solution.

Q: What are octagon boxes in the printing and packaging industry?

An octagon box is a unique and fun way to package items. From the top view, this box is shaped like an octagon, having eight sides and corners. There are variations of this box shape such as the STE octagon, RTE octagon and DGSW octagon. Both the RTE octagon and DGSW octagon have alternative shapes, which both have unequal sides. Even though these boxes have a unique shape, they are just as easy to assemble. They also offer better sturdiness and less compact space within special items. But their unique shape offers a more fun option of packaging items.

Q: What does recycled paperboard mean in printing and packaging?

Recycled paperboard is produced from recovered paper waste, converting plants and consumer sources. Recycled paperboard is multiple substrates from six to nine plies. The small amount of virgin fibers is added to increase the strength during the recycling process.

Recycled paperboards have lower stiffness per unit weight and interior printing surfaces compare to virgin substrates and have good cost advantages, which make them become more and more economical alternative paperboard in folding carton and packaging industry.

Q: What does an RTE box mean in the printing and packaging industry?

RTE box is a Reverse Tuck End box, which has top and bottom closing flaps on opposite sides of the box. They are cost-effective and able to be stacked closely together for convenience. However, they have a weak cut edge on the front panel. This can affect a tuck in this area, by causing it to run into the window material edge during closing.

During assembly, the box is popped open; the bottom and top flaps are then closed once the product is inside. Assembly time is generally faster and there is more flexibility in how contents are positioned.

Q: What does an STE box mean in the printing and packaging industry?

An STE box literally means a straight tuck end box, which is a box with four finished edges on the front. These edges are designed to make a box more visually appealing to consumers. One drawback is that STE boxes do not fit as snugly together as other box types, such as when they are on display. STE boxes allow for simple assembly and loading of a variety of retail products.

This box type has top and bottom closing flaps on the same side of the box, with a possible window for displaying a product. STE boxes are particularly ideal for such display windows. They can be made from corrugated cardboard or other materials. Different size customizations are available depending on the contents.

Q: What does an TTAB box mean in the printing and packaging industry?

TTAB box stands for a Tuck Top Auto Bottom box. These boxes have a stronger bottom than other boxes, yet they are a more costly option as well. It makes more economical sense to produce these in larger quantities. There are also width requirements for manufacturing them.

TTAB boxes are popular because of the ease of printing and assembly. They are used in industries such as food, retail sporting goods and more.

Q: What does Paper Board mean in printing and packaging?

Paperboard is a general term to describe the heavier weight grades of paper. The thickness at least is tenth-thousand of an inch (0.01″). The paperboard is the most common substrate used in the packaging industry of making boxes, folding carton, shipping container and other consumer product packages.

Q: What is SBS paperboard?

SBS stands for Solid Bleached Sulfate and it is the highest quality and most expensive paperboard substrate.

SBS is produced from bleached virgin wood pulp and can be used as a moisture barrier in the liquid and food packaging and high-end packaging where the quality of printed image is required. Common uses of SBS are health and beauty packaging, pharmaceutical packaging and frozen food packaging.

Q: What should be the concern when ordering custom boxes?

A custom box can be any box, not mass produced at a size that is standard to the industry. For your custom box orders, you will want to consider the right size and shape that will be perfect for your product. Many different finishing design touches are possible for such boxes. You can add unique curves, flaps, colors, and materials. Don’t hesitate to consider all the possibilities that will make your goods stand out and give them that necessary sales edge.

By working with a design team at a printing company, your exact specifications can be met for that special package you have in mind. Submit drafts of your particular project, as this will help you and your team work together to make your vision a reality.

Q: What is the difference between a TTAB box and Snap Lock Bottom box?

TTAB box has a stronger bottom than a snap lock bottom box. On the other hand, snap lock bottom boxes have a closing lock which ensures item safety and they are easily stored. They can create attractive displays for items as well. TTAB boxes are popular because of the ease of printing and assembly. They are used in industries such as food, retail sporting goods and more.
