Brown & Pratt, Inc. opened its doors in 1954 specializing in custom printed poly bags. Since our debut, we have broadened our product offering and now service all packaging and shipping supply industries! We are committed to working with each individual customer in order to cater to their precise packaging needs.

We offer custom packaging solutions, over 10,000 in-stock packaging and shipping supply items, and the ability to customize many of our products with your own custom artwork. At Brown & Pratt, we strive to fill your every packaging need while remaining committed to building long-term partnerships.

1940

Brown & Pratt begins as a proprietorship by Leonard J. Brown and his wife Evelyn specializing in paper and paperboard packaging items sold primarily to Laundries and Dry Cleaners.

1954

Brown & Pratt is incorporated with L.J. Brown as managing partner of the business.

1961

Leonard J. Brown died leaving his shares of Brown & Pratt to Carl Henschen

1964

Brown & Pratt establishes printing department with capability of printing polyethylene film on rolls and converting those rolls into either garment bags on a roll or flat shirt and sweater bags. At this time, Brown & Pratt had one printing press and 2 bag machines.

1973

Brown & Pratt’s printing department is shut down & liquidated as the company transitioned into a packaging distributor.

1978

Jerry D. Leonard purchases Brown & Pratt following the death of Carl Henschen

Late 1970’s

Brown & Pratt broadens product offering to boxes, packaging, and stretch wrap as well as ALL shipping supplies.

1988

Jerry Leonard hires second generation employee Gil Smith, II as a full-time packaging salesman.

April 1994

Jerry Leonard passes away willing Brown & Pratt and two other business to his wife Lynette Leonard

December 2007

Lynn Leonard retires, relinquishing full ownership of Brown & Pratt to long-time managing partner Gil Smith, II

Present

Brown & Pratt currently operates with 50+ years of experience in the distribution of Packaging & Shipping Supplies
