Bag thicknesses range from a .0005 mil up to approximately a .008 mil. Although other thicknesses can be produces, this range encompasses the typical needs of most poly bag consumers. The thickness of your bag will depend on the weight of the items being contained as well as how puncture resistant the film must be to contain any sharp edges.

Thickness Guidelines:

• 1 or 1.25 mil bags are perfect for economical packaging and coverage of lightweight products.
• 1.5 and 2 mil bags are the most commonly used thickness for storing, shipping, or displaying everyday items.
• 3 mil and 4 mil bags are capable of protecting and supporting heavy and abrasive items.
• 6 mil bags are extremely tough bags, offering total protection for very heavy products.
